NHIS continues to withhold the money of hospitals |

NHIS continues to withhold part of the money for hospitals. Up to this moment only 60 % of the reported and invoiced sums for the month of October have been paid. The lawful deadline according to p 156 of Decision of GB of NHIS RD-ÓÑ-04-17/20.01.2009 is the 30th of the month following the reported month. So according to the rules determined by the NHIS itself it is obliged to pay the worked-out sums for the month of October until the end of the month of November. Until November the 30th however the hospitals had received only 60 % of the reported sums. Anybody in the NHIS and the LHIS does not give any explanation what the reasons are for the delay or when the remainder of the sums due will be paid. As a separate matter NHIS owes interest for the delay. If anybody will seek them? Hardly, having in mind that most big hospitals are state-owned and their directors dare not ask let alone raise their voices and the rest are afraid that they might be refused contracts for next year or their budgets might be reduced and they also keep silence as if it does not concern them. That is the result of the monopoly position of NHIS - it can do whatever it wants, it can break its own rules, it may not pay its liabilities and nobody can react and oppose to this arbitrariness.
