Ministry of Health sentenced to pay 100 000 leva compensation Print E-mail
 Finally a court decision has come out on one of the most difficult cases against the Ministry of health for lack of medicines for the oncology patients. That is the famaous lawsuit of Angelina Boneva for lack of radioactive iodine 131 that she filed in August 2007 with the support of the Centre for Protection of Rights in Healthcare. Sofia-city Administrative Court sentenced the Ministry of Health to pay out to Ms Boneva 100 000 leva for non-property damages that she suffered.
It has been the third decision to award such a compensation.

Professor Anna Maria Borisova has been nominated to be the new minister of health Print E-mail
 The prime minister Borisov nominated professor Borisova to be the new Minister of Health. The introduction was brief: ' She has got a hard character, hard to communicate with - that is the kind of person that I need.'At an improvised press conference professor Borisova presented in brief her biography and her work in the field of endocrinological diseases. In the filed of health policy that is going to be her responsibility if approved by the Natiomal Assembly professor Borisova announced two points: "She will revise the health system and she will stop the leakages.".In fact professor Borisova is known to the medical community as a doctoro and a lecturer in the field of endocrinology. At the moment she is head of clinic and chairwoman of the scientific association of endocrinology. She has not taken positions in the administration or the governance of health institutions.

The 7th of April – a day of national protest in healthcare Print E-mail
 The national protest announced by the Association  of municipal and private hospitals will spread all over the country. According to information from various sources the following hospitals will take part in the protest actions: Novi Pazar, Balchik, Kavarna, Tervel, Kubrat, Provadia, Omurtag, Veliki Preslav, General Toshevo, Isperih, Gulyanci, Kneja, Lom, Cherven Bryag, Belogradchik, Botevgrad, Levski, Nikopol, Byala Slatina, Chirpan, Harmanli, Karnobat, Aytos, Pomorie, Goce Delchev, Bobov Dol, Purvomay, Elena, Pirdop, Ardino, Krumovgrad, Gulabovo, Radnevo, Kozloduy, Popovo and most private hospitals. In most towns like Harmanli, Botevgrad, Elena, Popovo and Novi Pazar there will be protest processions and rallies.
For three months now the NHIS does not comply with its lawful obligations and unlawfully withholds the payment to hospitals for January and February. As a result doctors and nurses do not receive their salaries and people in vast regions of the country are under threat to be deprived of access to timely medical assistance.

Agreement Print E-mail
 An agreement for co-operation and mutual actions was signed on March 29th between the Ombudsman of the Republic of Bulgaria - Mr Ginyo Ganev and the representative organizations for protection of rights of patients - Confederation for protection of health and Federation Bulgarian Patients' Forum. The objective of the signed agreement is that parties join forces in their efforts to form a wide public support for improvement of rules and practices related to protection of rights of citizens as patients.  
The parties in the agreement engaged to inform each other of their initiatives in the field of protection of rights of patients, to organize together public discussions, to participate jointly in preparation and distribution of information and knowledge and to co-operate in cases of violated rights. The agreement for co-operation is not limited in time and is open for other organizations to join.
 
Nanev resigned, who is next? Print E-mail
 After suddenly d-r Bojidar Nanev became a client of the state prosecution and gave his resignation the just question arises who will be the next Minister of Health. That of course depends only on Mr Boyko Borisov. Untill this moment more or less officially the names of the chief secretary of MH Neli Nesheva, the chairman of the Health Commission in Parliament - Luchezar Ivanov, the director of the municipal hospital in Russse - Micho Vichev, the director of university hospital St Ekaterina - Gencho Nachev, the director of university hospital St Anna -  Dimitur Dimitrov, the chairman of the Supervisory Board of NHIS - Vladislav Goranov, deputy minister Valerii Mutrev are in circulation. It is possible that none of the above becomes a minister.
